The External Advisory Committee

We are grateful to have the advice of a stellar group of distinguished leaders. The C-MORE External Advisory Committee (EAC) provides guidance to the Director on new directions and opportunities in the public and private sectors, where the Center can have maximum impact in its research, education, diversity and knowledge transfer missions. The EAC membership presently includes:

Peter Betzer: Dean and Professor of Marine Sciences, University of South Florida
Susan Cook: Director of Education at the Consortium for Oceanographic Research and Education (CORE) and P.I. for the Central Coordinating Office of the Centers for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (COSEE)
Claire Fraser-Liggett: Director, Institute of Genome Sciences and Professor of Medicine, University of Maryland in Baltimore
James Kauahikaua: Head of the U.S. Geological Survey's Hawaiian Volcano Observatory
Raymond Mariella, Jr.: Senior scientist and Director of the Center for Microtechnology and Nanotechnology, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
James J. McCarthy: Alexander Agassiz Professor of Biological Oceanography, Harvard University, and President of AAAS
Norman Pace: Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Development Biology, University of Colorado at Boulder
David Kekaulike Sing: Director and Founder of Na Pua No'eau, a state-wide organization aimed at raising the educational achievements of Native Hawaiian children, University of Hawaii at Hilo
James Tiedje (Chair): University Distinguished Professor and Director of the Center for Microbial Ecology, Michigan State University
